Broadband voice and video service provider 8×8 Inc. has launched a new service plan that gives customers unlimited worldwide calling to other Packet8 users and subscribers for a one-time equipment purchase.

The Packet8 Freedom plan requires that users purchase a Desktop Terminal Adapter model 310 (DTA-310) for a one-time equipment fee of $75 from the Packet8 website at http://www.packet8.net. Upon registering the DTA-310 users will be given a unique Packet8 telephone number so they can make and receive calls from any Packet8 subscriber or partner phone number. All Packet8 Freedom Plans include voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, conference calling and unlimited talk time.

"Our goal is to make this Internet calling program as easy, inexpensive and risk-free as possible for new customers to try the Packet8 service," says Bryan R. Martin, CEO of 8×8. "We are confident that Packet8 Freedom Plan subscribers will want to upgrade to a full Packet8 unlimited calling plan with a regular telephone number once they experience the quality and benefits of using the Packet8 network."
