Westcon Unit to Help VARs Win Global Deals

Specialty distributor Westcon
Group Inc. announced Wednesday that it has created a dedicated global
operations organization to help its multinational partners — resellers,
systems integrators and service providers — leverage its inventory, logistics
and cross-border capabilities.

Westcon Group’s Simon Minett has been promoted to lead the
new organization as executive vice president, global operations and logistics.
In his new role, Minett will be responsible for ensuring that Westcon Group’s
global logistics and sales capabilities are integrated across the entire
organization and available to vendors, systems integrators and service
providers in Europe, the Americas and emerging markets. 

Minett joined Comstor  more than a decade ago and has held
senior executive positions, including managing director of  Comstor UK,  COO of
Comstor Europe and vice president of operations Europe. He will continue to
report directly to Westcon Group President and CEO Dean Douglas.

Separately, the company announced that Bernie Kelley, vice
president of operations, will continue to manage the operations and logistics
organization in the Americas. In addition, Chris Leeming, vice president
business operations, will be responsible for Westcon Group’s global
distribution model. Both will report directly to Minett.

complements our global sales model,” said Minett. "As these companies
become more sophisticated and dependent on global business opportunities, they
will increasingly come to depend on our logistics expertise, global reach and
global sales capabilities."

Through its Comstor, Westcon Convergence, and Westcon
Security business practices, Westcon Group sells products and services to
resellers, systems integrators and service providers.  It specializes in networking,
security, mobility and convergence products.
