WTG Sweetens Agents Enterprise Opportunity with Alcatel-Lucent Deal
WTG agents now can sell big-name Alcatel-Lucent equipment to enterprises, and earn a hefty commission in the process.

Master agency World Telecom Group (WTG) has inked an authorized reseller agreement with telecom equipment giant Alcatel-Lucent.
The announcement is a big deal it means WTG agents now may sell ALUs enterprise products, including the companys telephones, unified communications (UC) platforms, and data and wireless gear.
“Since we focus on up-market enterprise customers, our agents will now be able to bundle equipment with their network services, allowing them to add a new product set to their existing portfolio via Alcatel-Lucent enterprise products,” Vince Bradley, president and CEO of WTG, said in a prepared statement.
Agents can expect to earn 5 percent of the sale price; there also may be some wiggle room on that percentage if an opportunity is especially hot.
How It Works
The WTG-ALU arrangement is set up as a team effort. In other words, agents will identify businesses that want to buy ALU equipment. Then, ALU will assign a direct rep to work with the agent. After that, the two parties will determine the best approach for the sale. For example, they could call the customer together or do a handoff, Bradley said.
ALU direct reps get paid more to sell through us than directly, so it is a perfectly incented teaming arrangement,” Bradley told PHONE+.
Once the sale is made, ALU handles installation and maintenance. Shipments, however, will come from WTG’s distributors.
For WTG agents, one hour of Web-based training is all thats required to start selling ALU products. Complete post-technical support certification takes four weeks of classroom training.
