XO Communications on Tuesday released a combined telephony and contact-center platform that unifies workers as if they were in the same physical building, the company said.

The hosted PBX and on-demand contact center resides in the XO cloud, which makes for lower total cost of ownership because of its subscription setup. That means users don’t have to invest in traditional PBXs or ACD products. The platform also is scalable, to meet fluctuating business demands, and features automatic failover for disaster recovery.

The hosted PBX comes with voice and network services, IP desktop phones, and calling capabilities such as click-to-call, forward, transfer and more. The on-demand contact center provides inbound call routing, administrative reporting and queue management.

Companies no longer must own their telephony and call center IT environment, nor do they have to self-manage it,” said Jake Heinz, XO’s vice president of marketing.
