Toronto-based Yak Communications has selected Profitec Inc. (Booth 317) as its billing and OSS provider to support its emerging U.S. operation, Profitec has announced.

The service provider is entering the U.S. market to sell dial-around and 1+ services to support its entry into the broadband voice market, according to Wallingford, Conn.-based Profitec.

Yak needed a vendor with a turnkey solution that could be implemented and operational in a short window, whose billing platform included Web-enabled provisioning and channel management tools supporting multiple product offerings in both the U.S. and Canada, says Randy Minervino, vice president of sales and marketing with Profitec.

In another development, Profitec will be providing demonstrations of its new OmniCare system, a Web-based customer-care system that interacts with the OmniBill database. OmniCare provides a Webbased customer service capability allowing for order entry, customer service and trouble-management capabilities.
