Dell Technologies, Nvidia Partner to Expand AI Offerings
The goal is to aid organizations wherever they are in their AI migrations.
July 31, 2023
By teaming up with Nvidia, Dell Technologies says it’s helping organizations simplify the adoption of full-stack generative AI (GenAI) with large language models. The company on Monday introduced new offerings to customers that aim to help them quickly and securely create GenAI models on-premises, assisting organizations no matter where they are in their AI journeys.
New Dell generative AI solutions span IT infrastructure, PCs and professional services and help organizations of all sizes and across industries.
Dell’s Jeff Clarke
Jeff Clarke, vice chairman and co-chief operating officer, Dell Technologies, said businesses are taking advantage of AI to enhance major systems.
“Generative AI represents an inflection point that is driving fundamental change in the pace of innovation while improving the customer experience and enabling new ways to work,” Clarke said. “Customers, big and small, are using their own data and business context to train, fine-tune and inference on Dell infrastructure solutions to incorporate advanced AI into their core business processes effectively and efficiently.”

The Dell Validated Design for Generative AI with Nvidia is an “inferencing blueprint,” Dell officials said. It can speed the deployment of a modular, secure and scalable platform for GenAI in the enterprise. It’s jointly engineered with Nvidia, and this solution helps customers generate higher quality, faster time-to-value predictions and decisions with their own data.
Dell’s portfolio provides the tools to deliver GenAI solutions from desktops to core data centers, edge locations and public clouds, the company said. Organizations can rapidly deploy GenAI projects and scale applications to transform processes in key areas. These include customer operations, content creation and management, software development and sales.
Development Locally on the Device
Dell Precision workstations let AI developers and data scientists develop and fine-tune GenAI models locally before deploying at scale. Precision workstations provide the performance and reliability to run AI software frameworks 80% faster than the previous generation.
Dell Optimizer, built-in AI software, learns and responds to the way people work, improving performance across applications, network connectivity and audio. This allows mobile workstation users leveraging GenAI models to improve performance for the application in-use while minimizing impact to battery runtime.
Dell Technologies to Boost Channel Play with GenAI
The channel is not left out of Dell’s latest AI commitment.
Dell’s Rob Tomlin
Rob Tomlin, UK VP president, channel, stated that generative AI represents an enormous opportunity for the channel and a significant new offering for Dell’s partner network.
“For almost any field or industry, generative AI has the potential to generate new knowledge and insight, transform how we create content, and enable productivity increases that will accelerate all facets of business, from decision-making to digital transformation,” Tomlin said. “Such is the impact and influence of generative AI that partners simply cannot afford to sit back and wait. Whether through products, services or processes, it is already changing how customers run their businesses, and one of the best ways for them to find the right GenAI strategy is by working with knowledgeable partners who can implement the solutions they need to stay ahead.”
When it comes to Dell professional services, the company said it delivers a broad spectrum of new capabilities to help customers accelerate GenAI adoption to improve their operational efficiency and advance innovation.
These services create a new GenAI strategy that identifies high value use cases and a roadmap to achieve them. Dell also offers full-stack implementation services, based on the Dell Validated Design for GenAI with Nvidia, and adoption services that apply the platform to specific use cases, such as customer operations or content creation. Once integrated into the business, Dell’s scaling services help improve operations through managed services, training or resident experts.
IDC’s Ashish Nadkarni
Ashish Nadkarni, group vice president and general manager, worldwide infrastructure and BuyerView research, IDC, said Dell’s AI solutions offer enterprises the ability to right-size their GenAI efforts and to streamline operations.
“In the era of intelligent automation, Dell Technologies is meeting organizations wherever they are in their GenAI journey, helping them position themselves for success in an increasingly intelligent and technology-driven world,” Nadkarni said.
