The first-ever Amazon Web Services global customer and partner conference — called AWS re:Invent — starts Nov. 27 in Las Vegas. Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) CEO Jeff Bezos is expected to discuss new AWS services, cloud migration best practices, architecting for scale, operating at high availability and making cloud apps secure.
But the bigger story likely involves Amazon’s cloud partners stepping into the spotlight. A half-day Nov. 27 event — designed especially for partners — will feature Adam Selipsky (VP of sales, marketing and support), Terry Wise (head of partner business Development), and Gartner VP Tiffani Bova discussing the cloud channel.
In recent months, Bova has been explaining to VARs and MSPs that they most plug into cloud aggregator services — which are centralized dashboards for sourcing and managing multiple SaaS, IaaS and PaaS offerings.
Meanwhile, Wise has been busy building relationships between Amazon Web Services and IT distributors like Avnet Cloud Solutions, Ingram Micro Cloud and Tech Data TDCloud. Those relationships should help VARs and MSPs to better understand Amazon’s value proposition. But ironically, I don’t think IT distributors will have a big presence at AWS re:Invent — which could be a missed opportunity.
Talkin’ Cloud, for its part, will be blogging live from the conference and pushing hard to understand how cloud integrators, brokers and aggregators are leveraging Amazon Web Services. Our coverage will start with the partner conference bright and early on Nov. 27.
