5G Phones, CenturyLink Threat Detection, SD-WAN Bundles Among the Channel's New Offerings

CenturyLink
CenturyLink unveiled a network-based threat detection and response capability.
Rapid Threat Defense automates threat detection and response at the network level and helps customers build custom policies. CenturyLink will integrate the capability into its SD-WAN and firewalls later this year.
“This new capability aligns with our goal to make security as simple as possible for today’s digital businesses," CenturyLink's channel chief said.

TPx
TPx Communications announced a new managed service designed to help customers manage SD-WAN, switching, Wi-Fi and other network solutions.
The MSx Networks offering adds a "cost-effective and simple" option to the TPx portfolio. Cisco Meraki undergirds the solution.

Avaya
Avaya will start selling its new UC solution to U.S. customers on March 31.
The vendor built Avaya Cloud Office through its partnership with RingCentral. It used its recent Engage conference to certify hundreds of partners to sell the offering.
Avaya also announced an AI routing contact center capability in conjunction with Afiniti AiRo.

FatPipe
The SD-WAN provider rolled out a new virtualized network function (VNF).
This VNF works with Ciena's universal customer premises equipment (uCPE). Ciena's senior director of portfolio marketing said the partnership stems from increasing "demand for network connectivity and services."
“CSPs and enterprises are actively modernizing their network assets to be increasingly intelligent, agile and adaptive," he said.

Fortinet
The vendor's SD-WAN solution now is available on the Equinix Network Edge marketplace.
The new colocation option allows customers to host the SD-WAN services outside of their branch location and "modernize networks virtually," according to Equinix's senior vice president of core product management.
“By offering Fortinet Secure SD-WAN as a virtual network service on Network Edge, customers can potentially reduce capital expenses while seamlessly deploying simplified WAN Edge operations closer to end users, clouds and valuable ecosystems in more global locations,” he said.

Samsung
Sprint and Verizon have already started offering the phone manufacturer's 5G-capable devices.
Samsung unveiled its S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra phones at an event in San Francisco last month, and the two carriers said they would begin selling the phones in their stores March 6. The phones are equipped to handle 5G-level data, with advanced image processors that will be used for ultra-high-resolution pictures and video.

Granite
Granite Telecommunications is harnessing multiple SD-WAN solutions in a new offering.
Granite announced "Built-to-Order" SD-WAN which allows customers to use different vendor solutions for different locations. VMware VeloCloud and Cisco Meraki are among the vendors in Granite's bundle.
“Most people know that SD-WAN’s a game-changer, giving businesses redundancy and quality of service using widely available and low-cost broadband. What they might not know – and what vendors and providers don’t want to tell them – is SD-WAN isn’t one size fits all,” a Granite executive said.

Poly
The company formerly known as Plantronics (after buying Polycom) announced a cloud-based management service.
Customers will use Poly Lens to learn more about how users are adopting and using Poly devices and meeting rooms. Poly is beginning to unify its various management platforms into a single cloud solution.

Juniper
Juniper Networks deepened its security capabilities last month.
The company added encrypted traffic analysis for Juniper Advanced Thread Prevention (ATP) Cloud and SRX Series firewalls. It also added its SecIntel framework to its recently acquired Mist platform.
The company's goal is to secure traffic across "all points of connection across the network,” Juniper's vice president of security business and strategy said.

Talkdesk
The contact center provider will improve cloud migration for contact center operations with its new offering.
Talkdesk last month unveiled a set of consulting resources, managed services and integration features called “Business Transformation Services.” The company wants to make it easier for customers to move away from on-premises hosting in hopes of boosting their return on investment.
“After moving from on premises to Talkdesk, customers have seen notable results," one executive said. "For example, in [customer satisfaction] improvement (19%), agent-productivity improvement (20%), time-to-answer reduction (21%) and wait-time reduction (23%)."

ConvergeOne
The IT services provider launched a second SD-WAN offering.
ConvergeOne already was partnering with Cisco Meraki for a solution, but it has now added a solution that is powered by Cisco Viptela. The solution utilizes ConvergeOne's service delivery platform and threat detection services from Alert Logic. The idea is to give customers more flexibility when picking an SD-WAN offering.

The provider of cloud-based switching and billing services introduced new features that will help resellers brand softphones.
The Telinta application includes a rate calculator, a prepaid balance indicator and other new features. A Telinta executive said resellers can develop their brands using the company's white-labelled solutions.

New SD-WAN and security offerings became available to channel partners last month.
Juniper Networks enhanced its firewalls and CenturyLink launched a new threat detection capability. In the same month, Fortinet expanded the availability of its SD-WAN solution through a partnership with Equinix. We also saw Cisco’s Meraki and Viptela solutions power partnerships with other vendors.
February also moved the channel closer to monetizing 5G, as Samsung teamed up with carriers to sell its new 5G-compatible phones.
