Alert Logic is taking a big step in breaking into the growing federal government vertical market. The company has launched both Threat Manager and Log Manager on Amazon (AMZN) Web Services GovCloud (U.S.), aiming to provide GovCloud customers with its network intrusion detection and SEIM offerings.
Alert Logic’s cloud offerings help to proactively identify and neutralize broad-based threats targeted at cloud-based data—in this specific case, government data. Considering the kind of data government agencies and departments are working with, access to extra security measures should help to put people at ease. AWS GovCloud was designed to address the needs and concerns of government entities that are increasingly shifting to cloud-based IT models.
According to Dave Colesante, senior vice president of product development and CTO of Alert Logic, the two cloud-based security offerings will “help government agencies more quickly and efficiently address their shared responsibility at AWS GovCloud.”
As noted last week on Talkin’ Cloud, there’s evidence to suggest GovCloud is becoming easier to manage for government organizations. If that’s true, that can only mean an easier time for the AWS partners dealing in the government market.
Ditto for Alert Logic’s partners. The company has grown its business with the help of channel partners almost since its inception. Exactly how partners fit into Alert Logic’s GovCloud is unclear, but chances are, Threat Manager and Log Manager will be additional offerings they can provide to their government clients.
The services are available now and are backed by SSAE-16 SOC-certified architecture and Alert Logic’s 24×7 security operations center, GIAC-certified security analysts and a Big Data analytics engine that provides global threat visibility.
