Arrow to Distribute SafeNet Cloud, Storage Encryption Technology

Data protection provider SafeNet has partnered with Arrow (ARW) Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) on a distribution deal for its ProtectV secure cloud encryption technology and its StorageSecure encryption appliance for network attached storage (NAS) environments.

While the two companies maintain an existing relationship, with the new agreement Arrow gains access to SafeNet’s entire portfolio of authentication solutions available in North America. And, with SafeNet’s ProtectV technology compatible with VMware (VMW) vShield and vCenter, it sets up Arrow's channel partners to deliver data security and compliance solutions within virtualized and storage environments.

Indeed, Mike Nowlan, Arrow ECS North American Security, Virtualization and Networking vice president, said the additions to its SafeNet offerings will strengthen the distributor’s growing virtualization business.

"By incorporating additional SafeNet solutions into our larger portfolio of virtualization and storage solutions, we’re helping solution providers simplify what can be a highly complex, technical sale, and helping them assure customers that world-class data protection is built into the enterprise IT solutions they are buying."

SafeNet positions the ProtectV solution as technology that clears the path for organizations to migrate to virtual and cloud environments and still retain full ownership, compliance and data control. Not only is it VMware-compatible but also it can be used by Amazon (AMZN) Web Services customers to secure data in the cloud.

The vendor’s StorageSecure is a high-assurance hardware storage encryption appliance that connects to 1GB or 10GB Ethernet networks to protect NAS environments without altering the storage infrastructure or deploying clients, according to SafeNet.
