Barracuda Networks (CUDA) announced it will acquire data protection solution provider Intronis as the company looks to build its business acumen and deliver security solutions for small and medium-sized MSPs.
The deal is expected will give Barracuda access to Intronis’ network of nearly 2,000 managed services providers as well as the Intronis ECHOplatform, the company’s data protection service, according to the announcement.
“We believe a larger opportunity exists to add Barracuda’s award-winning security and data protection solutions to the Intronis platform to expand its offerings. This will allow Intronis’ MSP partners to address the broader needs of their customers,” said BJ Jenkins, CEO and president of Barracuda, in a statement. “It also allows us to expand our market reach, and to offer compelling IT solutions no matter how customers want to consume them.”
By owning a dedicated MSP platform, Barracuda said it hopes to capture the attention of customers looking for trusted IT advisors as well as traditional VARs who are shifting to an MSP model.
“As part of Barracuda, Intronis will have access to a broader portfolio of solutions to help our channel partners grow their businesses and meet their customers’ needs. We will also gain valuable technical talent that will spark greater innovation, as well as more resources to grow our enablement tools and partner program,” said Rick Faulk, CEO of Intronis, in a blog post. “Barracuda shares our focus on the channel and the belief that partner success is what matters most.”
The deal is expected to close during Barracuda’s third quarter. Stay tuned to MSPmentor for more updates on the acquisition as they become available.
