Datto‘s naming of Tim Weller as its new CEO, replacing founder Austin McChord, was met mostly with a sense of relief from the partner community.
Weller joined Datto in 2017 as chief financial officer before taking the reins as president and COO, running the company’s day-to-day operations. His previous experience includes being CFO of Akamai and EnerNOC, a clean energy technology company.
Symantec had a management shake-up when Michael Fey, its president and chief operating officer, unexpectedly resigned. He came over from Blue Coat when Symantec acquired it in 2016.
Stepping in to fill part of the void was Art Gilliland (pictured), who now is the company’s executive VP and general manager of enterprise products. He joined Symantec in 2017, after Cisco bought his former company, Skyport Systems, where he was CEO.
Symantec said Marc Andrews also would take some responsibilities left by Fey’s departure, but maintaining his role as senior VP of worldwide sales.
Many were surprised this month to learn that Janet Schijns had left Office Depot, the retail giant she left Verizon for just two years ago.
There, she served as executive vice president and chief services and solution officer, tapped with building a services business that catered to IT consultants, MSPs, telco agents and business owners — a community she knows very well.
Now she’s back serving as CEO with the consulting firm she founded, JS Group. But something tells us she’ll be back at another big name in the channel before long.
There were big changes in the executive ranks at ConnectWise, the professional-services automation provider.
Pictured clockwise from top right: Craig Fulton, chief product officer, moved into the newly created role of chief customer success officer, tasked with building out a new customer-success team; Kathy Smith is headed for retirement, stepping away from her job as senior vice president of services and education to take on an advisory role; channel veteran Jason Magee got the “vice” removed from his title, becoming president and chief operating officer; and Jeff Bishop stepped into Fulton’s former role as chief product officer.
Carmen Sorice, well-known for his stint as channel boss at Sungard Availability Services, and later for starting his own consulting firm, joined the Commvault team.
At Commvault, he takes the reins as vice president of worldwide route services, a new position at the backup and recovery provider. He’s in charge of partner enablement, demand generation, partner programs and operations.
Sue Fossnes is a new face at Arcserve, but she’s know stranger to this business, coming from McAfee where she was the leader of global partner programs.
She now serves as North American channel director at the data-protection provider, tasked with developing and implementing channel programs, and measuring their success.
Nick Heddy got a nice gift the week before Christmas when cloud distributor Pax8 announced his promotion from senior VP of sales and marketing to chief revenue officer.
He’s responsible for revenue-generating processes and ensuring key departments are aligned in such a way to provide the most comprehensive support possible for the company’s managed service provider community.
Heddy has been with Pax8 since 2013.
Cyxtera, the company that formed from the purchase of CenturyLink’s data centers, hired Tamara Prazak to lead its channel strategy and marketing effort.
Before this, Prazak held a similar role with ViaWest (now Flexential). She is also on the board of directors for the Cloud Girls organization.
CloudJumper, which bills itself as a workspace-as-a-service provider, hired software veteran Robin Brandl as vice president of strategic alliances. He’ll be responsible for growing CloudJumper’s Microsoft relationship. CloudJumper is combining its Cloud Workspace Management Suite software with Microsoft’s Virtual Desktop platform.
Brandl is tasked with assisting CloudJumper’s technology partners and delivery-partner base.
Tony Rummans now heads global sales for BitTitan, the managed services automation provider. He comes from ProQuest, where he led a global sales team of 300 people.
Before that, he was senior vice president of software and solutions sales for Kofax (acquired by Lexmark). His best-known career stop was IBM, where had international responsibilities, again leading global sales teams.
Brian Foster is the new senior vice president of product management at MobileIron, the endpoint security management provider.
His three decades of experience include a run as senior VP of information at Neustar. In that role, he oversaw product development and go-to-market operations. He followed that by founding an identity-management startup.
What a run for Tim Curran, who is stepping aside after 17 years at the helm of the Global Technology Distribution Council.
Before GTDC, Curran built Panasonic’s printer business into a $1 billion company and was senior VP of sales at Tech Data.
Nintex, which providers workflow automation and intelligent process automation solutions, tapped Neal Gottsacker as its new chief product officer.
His most recent gig was at airSpring Software, but he’s also worked for HPE and Extream Software. Nintex calls Gottsacker a “SaaS expert” who’s been growing low-code software companies for years.
Rodolpho Cardenuto left his post as president of SAP‘s global partner organization after five years as channel chief and 10 years with the company overall. The only reason for the departure was “to pursue other opportunities.”
No word has surfaced as to where he will land. SAP remains on the hunt for a replacement.
“He really set up the foundation for the immense success that our Partner ecosystem has today,” an SAP spokesperson told Channel Futures.
Logicalis, the MSP and IT solutions provider, has a new vice president of sales for the East.
It’s Dave Hennie, who will work out of the company’s Cleveland office. He will develop strategies focused on verticals such as health care, government, education and manufacturing.
Hennie is a 15-year Cisco vet.
