Wayside Technology Group last month rebranded Lifeboat Distribution to Climb Channel Solutions. The new branding includes self-promotion as “A different breed of distributor.”
Climb Channel Solutions is a global specialty distributor. Solution areas include virtualization and cloud, security, software and application lifecycle, storage and HCI, connectivity and data management.
The distributor recently signed an agreement with Liqid, a composable infrastructure hardware and software platform. The addition of Liqid to Climb Channel Solutions’ line card includes the vendor’s computing, networking, and storage, GPU, FPGA and Intel Optane memory devices for bare-metal services.
D&H just wrapped up its two-day June Threadcast virtual event. Threadcast is a virtual, live-streamed version of the distributor’s Thread Technology Conference. D&H like many industry players reformatted its event to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
The recent Threadcast videocast explored the “new normal” and what that means for VARs, MSPs, and the future of IT and managed services.
The THREADcast included “LIVEcast” sessions with speakers from the City of Industry agenda:
§ High-tech marketing pro Jay Baer gave pertinent examples of successful vs. unsuccessful ways for solution providers to enhance customer experiences, strengthen customer relationships, and foster increased business.
§ Larry Walsh of the 2112 Group addressed the state of the channel and its response to COVID-19. It was especially relative to teleworkers and the education market.
§ Guy Grace, director of security and emergency planning at Littleton Public Schools and chair of PASS (Partner Alliance for Safer Schools), gave insights into how schools are utilizing technology for purposes such as security, surveillance, crisis management, and distance learning during the pandemic.
§ D&H’s own Jason Bystrak, vice president of the Cloud Business Unit, explained how MSPs and VARs can leverage cloud-based technologies to address these new needs through D&H’s Cloud Solutions offering.

Just ahead of the Cisco Live virtual event that ran June 16-17, D&H announced new Cisco solutions added to its Cloud Marketplace.
Partners can bundle Cisco’s managed services solutions with hardware, software and services. And, the new offering features a tiered pricing structure.
The agreement with Cisco includes the Webex Collaboration platform, Cisco’s Umbrella layered security solutions, and its Stealthwatch cloud-based network visibility and threat detection solutions. The D&H Cloud Marketplace is a digital commerce platform that allows partners to purchase, provision, and invoice an extensive selection of cloud-based services through a single, intuitive interface.
The Cisco solutions can be procured through the D&H portal, including a collaborative bundle, a remote worker bundle, and security-based packages for markets such as K12.
If you missed Cisco Live, the broadcast sessions – keynotes, breakout and innovation sessions – are available On Demand. Also available On Demand are more than 200 technical sessions, and you can also catch up with Collaboration, Enterprise Networks, Security, Thought Leadership and DevNet technology tracks.
This week, Ingram Micro announced an expanded role for ASEAN vice president and country chief executive Francis Choo, who will oversee new growth investments spanning the Asia Pacific region.
The new investments include:
· Additional go-to-market sales, technical and solution architect resources within the Global Partner Engagement team, based in Singapore
· The rapid expansion of its Advanced Solutions technology and value-added services portfolio across Asia Pacific, which includes the formation of a Center of Excellence supporting channel partners that are doing business, or would like to expand their expertise with cybersecurity, data center and IoT solutions
· Added business intelligence, marketing, Small-and-Medium Business (SMB) and emerging technologies support for channel partners doing business in Asia Pacific.
Earlier this year, Ingram Micro announced executive promotions and appointments to align with its global technology solutions strategy.
Pax8 and NewCloud Networks, a global provider of cloud computing services, recently partnered. Through the partnership NewCloud Networks’ cloud storage and compute resources for Veeam Cloud Connect Backup and Disaster Recovery are now available for MSPs. NewCloud Networks has data centers in nine U.S. locations.
NewCloud Networks specializes in backup, disaster recovery, production cloud, hosted PBX and Security-as-a-Service. Veeam is one of the company’s strategic partners and NewCloud Networks is a Platinum Veeam Cloud and Service Provider (VSCP).

Tech Data this week wrapped up its two-day Next Tech Digital Experience event. The online event theme – Breakthrough Disruption. Emerge Stronger. The event focused on channel transformation and insights, partnerships and technology solutions impacting the future of the industry.
Some of the opportunities for attendees included: vendor breakout sessions with Lenovo, Microsoft, and Aruba. A technology partner discussion panel on Post Covid-19 Priorities. Panelists included Software AG, Sharp Imaging and Information Company, Microsoft’s Azure IoT division, Intel and Logicalis.
Partners mingled in the Next Tech Digital Exhibition Hall and Partner Virtual Networking Lounge. Tech Data experts were available to discuss cloud, IoT and analytics, Reseller Connect, and security.
