It’s Thursday, and that can only mean one thing—another heaping helping of channel partner news in our weekly roundup. This week we’ve got some juicy tidbits from our friends at snom technology, ESET and Extreme Networks (EXTR). Let’s get started.
Snom: The IP handset vendor has appointed Olivier Gerling as its new chief sales officer, responsible for the company’s worldwide sales and marketing activities.
“Olivier’s extensive experience in sales and channel operations make him a natural fit for his new role,” said Markus Schmitt-Fumian, snom CEO, in a statement. “His understanding of creating effective sales programs and channels will help snom expand its global footprint as we roll out an exciting lineup of innovative VoIP products.”
Gerling joined snom in 2009 as managing director of snom France and has more than a dozen years of leadership experience in telecommunications channel sales, according to the announcement. He will work closely with Schmitt-Fumian in his new role to grow the company’s market presence and lead snom’s growth in its core markets.
ESET: The Internet security provider has appointed Gerald C. Choung as vice president of Sales. He will be responsible for leading the company’s North American sales team and providing strategic director for the company’s partner and distributor network, according to the press release.
Choung has more than 20 year of experience with channel partners and in channel development, and formerly served as senior director of Channel Strategy and Sales at Qualcomm (QCOM). He also has held executive roles at Oracle (ORCL) and Microsoft (MSFT).
“We are excited and privileged to have Gerald join our expanding team here at ESET,” said Andrew Lee, CEO of ESET North America. “With Internet and data security continuing to move to the forefront, Gerald comes at a perfect time to guide ESET on its upward trajectory.”
Extreme Networks: The networking solutions provider has unveiled its new PartnerLink app, a service that will allow partners to drive business through mobile access to sales and marketing content. The PartnerLink Mobile App is available on iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices and is designed to provide partners with the content they need to stay informed about Extreme’s partner program when they are away from their desks.
Using PartnerLink, partners can register sales opportunities from their mobile devices and access content such as product promotions, customer case studies, datasheets and more, according to the announcement. The app also will provide regional content based on the user’s location.
“PartnerLink streamlines operations to allow sales teams more time to focus on the activities that matter—moving prospects through the sales funnel and generating revenue,” said Bob Gault, vice president of Global Channels and Partners at Extreme Networks. “The launch of PartnerLink is just one example of how our commitment to partner profitability and innovation is second to none.”
That’s all for now, but we’ll be back with more partner-centric news and updates next week, right here on The VAR Guy. Until then, stay safe.
