It’s Friday everyone, and you know what that means—the latest IT distributor news delivered right to your screen. This week’s edition features the latest and greatest from Avnet (AVT) and Arrow Electronics (ARW).
Avnet: Avnet recently presented World Wide Technology with its 2014 Avnet Government Solutions award for the United States during the inaugural Avnet Partner Awards program.
Avnet’s new program recognizes the distributor’s North American partners for excellence in delivering on customer needs and driving business results. A total of 10 awards were presented to partners across eight categories, according to the announcement.
“World Wide Technology is honored to receive this recognition from Avnet for our success in delivering solutions and services tailored to meet the evolving needs of the U.S. government,” said Bob Olwig, vice president of Business Strategy and Innovation with WWT, in a statement. “We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Avnet as we help our federal, state and local government customers reduce costs through the innovative use of commercial off-the-shelf products, capture cross-agency opportunities, enhance security and align leading-edge technology with their long-term strategic vision.”
Arrow: Arrow has been authorized to distribute the StorMagic SvSAN virtual storage appliance to its community of solution providers in North America.
The SvSAN solution allows small businesses and enterprise remote locations to run critical applications on site, without dedicated local IT resources, according to the announcement. StorMagic’s on-premise solution is also compatible with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper V.
"Small organizations and distributed enterprises are actively exploring more efficient methods of virtualizing their infrastructure, because they require better performance, availability and manageability of applications running in isolated offices and remote sites,” said Mark Taylor, vice president of North American Servers, Systems, and Software for Arrow’s Enterprise Computing Solutions business. “This distribution agreement with StorMagic offers Arrow’s solution providers and their customers a proven virtualization solution that requires minimal IT infrastructure, which helps to reduce ownership costs.”
