If your company acquires two companies within a month, MSPmentor will take notice. Don’t worry, Good Technology, we noticed. This month, secure enterprise mobility and mobile device management solutions vendor Good Technology has acquired AppCentral Inc. — a developer of mobile application management technology — to extend the capabilities of the Good Dynamics platform with AppCentral’s AppGuardian. Terms of the acquisition were not released.

According to Good Technology, these additional solutions will “enable enterprises to increase mobile worker productivity while protecting data and applications on today’s popular mobile devices.” AppCentral’s “app wrapping” builds upon the application security framework, libraries and services available in the Good Dynamics platform.

What does this mean? Enterprise developers and independent software vendors (ISVs) can add an application security wrapper without code integration, or integrate Good Dynamics security libraries directly into their application code. With this capability, developers will be able to define app-specific policies, and publish app services that multiple apps can utilize without having to duplicate code across every app.

The transaction closed on October 1, 2012. All AppCentral personnel will become full-time employees of Good Technology. Last month, Good Technology acquired Copiun Inc. — a privately-held collaboration solutions company — to extend secure mobile file sharing and data syncing to customers.
