HP Targets Mobility with Software Solutions for Enterprise
March 21, 2012
Less than a month after making some major upgrades to its IT performance suite for its enterprise business customers at the Hewlett-Packard (HP) Global Parter Conference (GPC) in Las Vegas, HP Software has released new application transformation solutions to help enterprises create a better user experience for their end-users.
Specifically, HP is trying to help its enterprise customers more easily integrate mobile enterprise apps.
New Mobile Solutions for the Enterprise
First, HP has developed HP Anywhere — a software solution designed to let enterprise IT admins manage their IT networks from anywhere, straight from their mobile devices. According to HP, the solution is all about increasing productivity and making faster IT decisions. IT admins can use the HP Anywhere solution to do things like manage product portfolios and end-user requests, track and identify network defects and monitor overall IT performance.
And to compliment HP Anywhere, the HP has also released the HP Enterprise Collaboration solution. So not only can IT teams manage their networks from anywhere, but they can now share their network knowledge with other admins. And what’s more, the collaboration is in real-time and can be organized by topic and actions. So those involved in the conversation through the HP Enterprise Collaboration solution can trace the conversation back to the original actions and work items.
Additions to HP Application Services Portfolio
The two new solutions have spurred also spurred HP to add new capabilities to the HP Application Services portfolio. One is the addition of new HP Testing for Mobility Services. The service automatically tests new mobile applications across multiple devices in order to accelerate the time to market of future mobile applications. HP is also leveraging its partnership with Perfecto Mobile, a provider of testing solutions for cloud applications. The significance? Perfecto supports multifunctional applications. So the company will extend the capabilities of the HP Unified Functional Testing solution to allow developers to test mobile apps across different mobile devices and different business networks.
Finally, HP has added a second solution to its HP Application Services portfolio to help customers access critical network information more easily. It’s called HP Enterprise Mobility Services for SAP Applications, and its specifically extended to the SAP NetWeaver platform in order to capture data from SAP applications. According to HP, the new capabilities give its enterprise customers an end-to-end enterprise mobile solution to access key enterprise info.
The HP Moble Strategy
HP clearly recognizes the popularity of mobile devices in the enterprise and is full-steam ahead in terms of capitalizing on the Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) phenomena. The HP Software strategy is evident: develop solutions to help its business customers maximize the collaboration capabilities of mobile devices
