Felipe Isaza, founder and president of Miami, Fla.-based FUNCSHUN, shares three suggestions he'd apply if he were launching an MSP today.

1. Leverage the cloud – Partner up with a vendor, leverage the tools to facilitate basic experience for the customers. On prem solutions are just what would require more time and maintenance whereas the cloud is ready to go. In terms of the monthly costs, it's beneficial.

2. Customer service – Speak to your SLAs (service level agreements). Your SLAs are very critical and play a big role in the success of an MSP. Especially in a world where everybody wants things now, resolving, mitigating issues in a timely manner is very important. Just to give you an idea, our most common customer acquisition is due to lack of attention and response on an MSP's part.

3. Use social media marketing – They are big in terms of letting customers know how the company is doing, acting, how they present themselves. That affects perception. Fabricating your story online just doesn't cut it nowadays. Having just a website is not enough. People want to see the real MSP, the real people, how they are, how they interact. Real-time built-in data and pictures have an effect as well. Obviously, all the key points of the support have to be there. But that online presence plays a big role in how the customers see your MSP company. Throughout the year we've noticed that we get a lot more interactions based off of Instagram, Facebook; which a lot of MSPs unfortunately are not doing. So, we basically found that niche, we stuck to it, and we had a good response from the customers.
