An all-star six-person panel talked about a variety of trends impacting diversity inclusion: Jennifer Dimas (far right), Telarus’ chief marketing and experience officer, Randee Jennings, CEO of Cirrus Group (second from right), Nikki Beck (center), partner development manager for AT&T and ACC Business, Brandon Knight (third from left), global head of channel CX at Zoom, Barry Williams (second from left), executive director of channel sales at Comcast Business/Masergy, and Telarus CEO Adam Edwards.
The panel offered mixed responses on how remote work has positively impacted and negatively impacted marginalized communities. On one hand, the ability to interface digitally has allowed people to more easily enforce personal boundaries and more clearly identify themselves. On the other hand, physical isolation from people has in some ways hampered the important exchange of experiences.
The panel also touched on the topic of sexual harassment, which continues to impact all industries, with technology being no exception. Beck, who previously worked at Telarus, said the TSB’s efforts to build a safe workplace, including the creation of a safeword people can use at events, drew her to the company.
“That was the biggest recruitment tool for me,” Beck said.
