6. Going Private: Quest Software, parent of PacketTrap MSP and the forthcoming PacketTrap PSA, is exiting public markets and going private. The move comes after Quest Software’s most recent earnings results and ongoing forecasts disappointed investors and triggered executive changes. But if you check SEC filings you’ll find PacketTrap MSP doing just fine, thank you.
5. Coming to the Big Apple: Axcient CEO Justin Moore and HP VP Meaghan Kelly will be in New York the week of March 12 to educate VARs and MSPs about SaaS business opportunities. Axcient has a close relationship with HP, deploying its storage solutions atop HP’s hardware.
4. Gotta Be In It to Win It: Spam Soap, the email security company, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special 10 years, 10 days, 10 tweets daily contest. The contest runs Saturday, March 10 through March 19.
3. That’s Greek, er, German to Me: Autotask, as expected, has launched a German edition of its SaaS-based business management platform for IT service providers (that’s long-hand for PSA software). It’s part of Autotask’s strategy to expand globally.
2. More on Healthcare IT: MSPmentor reported last week that ETG, an MSPmentor 100 company focused on health care, was rebranding as ClinicAnywhere. More details have emerged: ETG has actually merged with Medical Practice Management (MPM), a medical billing services company. The resulting ClinicAnywhere company will offer physicians a one-stop shop for their business process outsourcing — including cloud-based practice management and EHR services, medical billing services, information technology/data services and telecommunication services. ClinicAnywhere is now currently servicing over 700 physicians in the Southeast.
1. In A Buying Mood: Within days of one another, both Continuum CEO Micheal George and N-able Technologies CEO Gavin Garbutt told me their companies are in the market looking to make acquisitions. Continuum has funding from parent Summit Partners, while N-able may tap some private equity money the company received in 2011. You’ll find some deeper details about the Continuum strategy here. And I’ll recap my conversation with Garbutt in a few days.
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.
