Meet the Chiefs: Ajay Arora, Vera
This week we chatted with Ajay Arora, the CEO and co-founder of Vera, a privately owned cybersecurity startup dedicated to protecting the entire enterprise network. As head honcho at Vera, Arora is also responsible for building the company’s indirect sales channel and in attaining new channel partners.

Arora: Washing dishes in a deli outside Detroit for eight hours at a time. Ugh.
The VAR Guy says: That’s what we call a serious case of dishpan hands. Your plates were probably squeaky clean though!
Arora: Uber. I just never knew it until it came along. It has changed my life.
The VAR Guy says: Uber is pretty great – no maintenance required, just hop in and go wherever you want!
Arora: My bedroom. I travel so much for work that any time I get to spend time in my own bed is a vacation.
The VAR Guy says: Sometimes there’s no better place than your own bed, especially after being on the road for so long. We’re personally looking forward to our next stay-cation as well.
Arora: “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” by Milan Kundera.
The VAR Guy says: Kundera's 1984 novel is a brilliant work of "philosophical fiction" that is best enjoyed the less you know about it beforehand.
Arora: An Uber Black
The VAR Guy says: Now that’s riding in style. Can we request a Cadillac Escalade, please?
Arora: “Game of Thrones,” duh. That and re-watching episodes of “Breaking Bad.” Nothing else comes even close to the two. Drama at its best.
The VAR Guy says: You certainly have good taste in TV! We wonder how long Walter White from “Breaking Bad” would last in Westeros …
Arora: The firefighter who rides in the back and steers one of those giant ladder fire trucks. Coolest job in the world still.
The VAR Guy says: That is a pretty awesome job. But better than being a CEO/Channel Chief? No way.
Arora: “Amadeus.” The agony of being able to recognize greatness and not being able to achieve it is a unique and a painful part of the human condition. The movie was a work of art from beginning to end.
The VAR Guy says: “Amadeus” really was a wonderful movie. One of those rare gems that can make you both laugh and cry within a span of a few minutes.
