Meet the Chiefs: Kim King, Progress Software
This week we sat down with Kimberly King, vice president for Worldwide Partners and Channels at Progress Software (PRGS), an application development, data interoperability and software-as-a-service enablement provider.
King: I was an office manager for DMB&B an Advertising Company in NYC.
The VAR Guy says: That's a pretty significant first job—kudos for landing a management position right out of the gate!
King: A Telsa
The VAR Guy says: Beauty, brawn and technology all wrapped up in a single package makes any Tesla a guaranteed head-turner, either on the highway or in the parking lot.
King: The Florida Keys
The VAR Guy says: We hope you had a drink at Margaritaville down in Key West while you were there! It may sound corny, but it's one of our favorite things to do during the summer in the keys.
King: "Consumption Economics" by J.B. Wood, Todd Hewlin and Thomas Lah
The VAR Guy says: According to Amazon, "Consumption Economics" is an insightful look at how tech companies can eliminate barriers of cost and complexity that spawned from the last generation of tech, and serves as a useful guide for executives who want to transition their companies into becoming next-gen technology providers.
King: A BMW 640
The VAR Guy says: We like the way you splurge! This is probably one of the coolest splurge items we've seen in this column, and we've some pretty impressive purchases.
King: "Madame Secretary" (it reminds me of "The West Wing").
The VAR Guy says: This popular drama stars Tea Leone as Dr. Elizabeth Faulkner McCord, a CIA analyst who is promoted to U.S. Secretary of State. The show is currently in its second season and has already garnered several critical accolades, including People's Choice Awards nominations for Favorite Actress in a New TV Series and Favorite New TV Drama.
King: I wanted to be an astronaut.
The VAR Guy says: Becoming an astronaut was one of our childhood goals too, so we know how exciting you must have been at the idea of traveling into space. Hopefully, we'll all be able to take a trip to the moon and back once commercial space flight is perfected. Hurry up, Elon Musk!
King: "Contact"—it’s such a great movie. It really makes you think about how precious life is and insignificant all at the same time, when you look at all the universe has to offer.
The VAR Guy says: Any movie about aliens that stars Matthew McConaughey is "alright alright alright" with us.
