Meet the Chiefs: Thomas Jensen, HP
Jensen: My first job was as Product Manager, PCs at Hewlett-Packard Denmark.
The VAR Guy says: It’s great that you were able to start your career with HP and continue to work your way up through the ranks! And starting out as a product manager sure beats working as a paperboy.
Jensen: The Aston Martin DB9
The VAR Guy says: This sleek, fast-looking British sports car looks like something 007 himself would feel comfortable in. Make sure you ask for extra spy gadgets if you ever get one!
Jensen: Snowbasin, Utah
The VAR Guy says: Sounds like an awesome trip! Snowbasin is known for its beautiful ski and snowboarding resorts as well as scenic mountain vistas. Very cool (pun intended).
Jensen: "The Leadership Pipeline," and "The HP Way," by David Packard.
The VAR Guy says: "The Leadership Pipeline," by Ram Charan, Stephen Drotter and James Noel is an acclaimed resource for leaders looking to grow their management skill sets, while "The HP Way," is HP cofounder David Packard's tell-all about his work with Bill Hewlett in creating the enterprise giant. Kudos for tossing an HP book into the mix too, by the way.
Jensen: Not sure, but it must have been related to golf.
The VAR Guy says: It’s ok, we can’t remember our last splurge item either. It’s probably on our credit card statement, but we’re too afraid to look!
Jensen: "Californication"
The VAR Guy says: This Showtime series follows writer Hank Moody (played by X-Files alum David Duchovony) as he embarks on a journey filled with sex, drugs and rock 'n’ roll.
Jensen: I wanted to be a bank director.
The VAR Guy says: It seems like you were always destined for a management position, even as a kid! While being a channel chief isn’t exactly like being a bank manager, we’re sure it has its own share of financial responsibilities.
Jensen: Amongst many favorite movies, "The Godfather" is definitely a highlight. It has a strong story to it and is action-packed whilst still showcasing realistically how brutal life and business can be and how money rules …
The VAR Guy says: A bona fide classic and another popular choice among channel chiefs. This adaptation of Mario Puzzo’s gripping gangster drama is certainly one for the ages, and unlike some movies, it somehow seems to get better with each viewing.

This week in Meet the Chiefs we turn the spotlight on Thomas Jensen, vice president of Worldwide Channel Sales at Hewlett-Packard’s Printing and Personal Systems division. As channel chief he is responsible for leading the separation efforts for the worldwide channel organization at HP in addition to his responsibilities in defining the company’s go-to-market and channel structure for the new HP Inc.
Prior to his time as channel chief, Jensen served as director and general manager for HP’s PPS organization in Denmark, where he played a key role in transforming the organization after the combination of HP’s printer and PC divisions in 2012. He has also held leadership roles in Danish companies Vestas Wind Systems and A.P. Miller-Maersk in addition to his executive experience at HP.
