Symantec has acquired Nukona to push into the mobile application management (MDM) market, protecting Apple iOS, Android and HTML5 apps. Symantec also recently purchased Odyssey Software for mobile device management (MDM).

In a prepared statement, Symantec said:

“Symantec will help customers secure enterprise critical mobile apps and data while managing and protecting them with policies, including authenticating users, encrypting sensitive files, preventing data leakage and selectively wiping corporate data. These acquisitions further advance Symantec’s enterprise mobility leadership by enhancing capabilities for mobile device, application and data protection.”

The MSP software market has a growing number of MDM software packages that work with RMM (remote monitoring and management) software. Both Kaseya and Level Platform promote MDM offerings to MSPs.
