The VAR Guy's Most Anticipated Tech of 2015
Apple’s smartwatch design is bound to be one of the hottest devices in 2015, considering everything else the company develops sells like hotcakes. With multiple styles and a mountain of hype behind it, you can bet your wallet this wearable will be flying off the shelves when it releases in April.
In a bold move, Microsoft completely skipped over Windows 9 in favor of Windows 10, the company’s newest operating system for desktops and tablets. Windows 10 is currently available in a limited preview build, with the full version expected to drop later this year.
If you’ve ever needed to print something while you’re on the road, the ZutaLabs Pocket Printer is bound to be your new best friend. This portable printer measures 10.2 cm in diameter and can print on any standard size sheet of paper by moving mechanically across the page. According to ZutaLabs, the printer can be connected to any device via Wi-Fi and includes a battery capable of printing for one hour. The ZutaLabs Pocket Printer is available now for preorder for $199.
The latest and greatest version of the popular Universal Serial Bus design, USB 3.1 Type C is expected to provide users with a top speed of 10Gbps and features a higher power output of up to 20V, so devices will charge faster than ever. As a bonus, USB 3.1 Type C allows for bi-directional power, so you can either charge your smartphone through your computer or charge your computer via your smartphone.
The OnePlus Two is the latest smartphone from up-and-coming Chinese developer OnePlus, and is expected to hit shelves in Q2/Q3 2015. Last year’s model was a popular (albeit hard to find) Android smartphone that strove to compete with big name brands like Samsung and Google. We don’t know much about this mysterious new phone just yet, but we hope it won’t be as difficult to get our hands on one as the previous version.
While the iPad Pro is still just a rumor, we really, really hope it comes true. The iPad Pro is expected to be targeted toward the enterprise crowd with a 12-inch screen, making it ideal for conferencing, note-taking and viewing presentations.
Even though the Surface 3 was released only a few months ago, rumors are already swirling about a 4th generation model of Microsoft’s popular hybrid tablet. Since it isn’t too far-fetched to believe Microsoft would follow in the footsteps of Apple and release a new model of its device each year, this one is almost guaranteed to hit shelves before the end of 2015.
Google has been teasing its own modular smartphone design since last year, but very little is known about the specifics of the device itself. While we know that Project Ara will allow users to customize their smartphones with different modules such as more powerful cameras or batteries, we still don’t have a solid price point or release date for Google’s rendition of the Phonebloks concept.
3D printers have been very popular over the past year, but most of them are either too big or too expensive to be viable for consumers and small businesses—until now. The R2 Mini 3D printer debuted at CES 2015 and is expected to retail for less than $600, so you can finally begin printing objects from the comfort of your own home once it releases this spring.

While history dictates that Apple will be rolling out an enhanced version of its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models, the company might surprise us by unveiling a new numbered entry in its smartphone family once Q3 2015 rolls around.
