This week virtualization giant VMware (VMW) held its annual VMworld customer conference in San Francisco, and as always there was no shortage of virtualization-centric news from partner companies.

Software-defined storae vendor DataCore Software unveiled its new parallel I/O software at VMworld, which was designed to help users eliminate bottlenecks associated with running multi-core processing systems. The company also announced a new worldwide partnership with Curvature to provide users with a procurement and lifecycle model for their storage products, data services and centralized management.

Platform9 has combined its OpenStack as a Service solution with SolidFire's all-flash storage systems. The new Platform9 Managed OpenStack offering will allow customers to use either existing or new virtualized servers to power private clouds, which can also be integrated with SolidFire storage. The companies said the joint solution will make it easier for users to manage both their KVM and vSphere environments.

Lenovo announced several new ISV enterprise and SMB-centric solutions this week at VMworld, including Red Hat OpenStack and VMware Software-Defined Data Center. Lenovo said the solutions will allow customers to improve the performance and deployment speed for their workloads, thus driving higher revenue growth.

IndependenceIT's Cloud Workspace Suite is now compatible with VMware vCloud Air and vCloud Air Director, the company announced this week at VMworld. Available immediately, both single and multi-tenant virtual data centers can be directly deployed on vCloud Air using the workflow engine within Cloud Workspace Suite, according to the announcement.

NaviSite announced the launch of several new enterprise cloud onboarding services this week, including Self-Service Onboarding, Guided Cloud Onboarding and Managed Cloud Migration. Each of the new services was designed to help businesses more easily move to the cloud with the NaviCloud Director, a VMware Infrastructure as a Service platform.

The EMC Federation gave customers and channel partners a first look ast its new Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution and a new End-User Computing solution this week at VMworld.
The Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution allows customers to utilize self-service provisioning of applications and resources for increased dunction and workflow efficiencies. The End-User Computing solution was designed to make deploying and maintaining Virtual Desktop Infrastructure easier, according to the announcement.
