Why I’m Joining Channel Futures
Dave Raffo is brand-new to the Channel Futures family as our new MSP news editor.
I’m excited today to join Channel Futures as MSP news editor. This role is all about helping managed service providers, integrators, sellers, MSPs, agents and vendors stay up to speed with the latest and most relevant info to drive your businesses. I can’t wait to dig in, and I get to do it as part of the best channel journalism and research team in the business at Channel Futures.
A Little Bit About Me
I’ve been covering technology since 1994 as a writer, editor and research analyst. For the past two decades, I’ve focused on data storage, data center and cloud technologies. I spent 13 years at TechTarget as its storge news editor and editorial director, and I worked as a research analyst the past three years.
I’ve spent a great deal of time talking to IT users, vendors and their partners, and other credible sources to keep up with an ever-changing beat. I look forward to sharing those insights with a new audience − the channel − which I consider the heart of the IT world.
What I'll Focus On
The IT landscape constantly evolves, with trends popping up seemingly overnight, and often disappearing just as fast. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a hot topic that’s here to stay, with Microsoft, IBM, AWS, Google and other tech giants moving rapidly into generative AI. We’ll work to break down the complexities of gen AI, all its models, features, practical applications and challenges. And we’ll show you how gen AI can drive channel business.
The rise of AI has also brought about a GPU arms race to support it, driven by new platforms such as Nvidia's Blackwell. We’ll be watching that space closely, especially as new challengers emerge.
Of course, a year from now, we'll probably be talking about completely different topics. That keeps things exciting in our IT world. Technology is always changing. You may know everything about a tech topic today, but something new will pop tomorrow that you have to dig into. That’s why the world needs good tech journalists.
Another part of my new job that I’m excited about is working with our research team on our conferences and the Channel Futures MSP 501, where we honor the most influential MSPs in the world. These events are goldmines for journalists — a chance to connect with readers and key stakeholders in person. I hope to speak with many of you soon, face-to-face or via video.
That’s all for now. It’s time to get to work.
