AirWatch CEO John Marshall says mobility framework doesn't need full device management to secure corporate applications and data.

AirWatch CEO John Marshall suggested to a crowd at AirWatch Connect 2013 this week that organizations can have their cake and eat it too — at least when it comes to security solutions.

Marshall said organizations should be able to deploy mobile device management (MDM), containerization or a hybrid model to meet the needs of internal use cases, as well as extended enterprise collaboration, pointing to the company’s new AirWatch Workspace as the answer. The end user cannot, however, access corporate resources such as email, apps, content and intranet browsing without being logged into the workspace.

According to the company, AirWatch Workspace allows organizations to keep corporate data secure within applications, while allowing the user to maintain complete control of their personally-owned device. For example, employees can view managed corporate applications with the dual persona view or with the unified view.

AirWatch Workspace is available on both Apple (AAPL) iOS and Google (GOOG) Android and incorporates single sign-on capabilities for all AirWatch applications, internal enterprise applications through AirWatch’s app wrapping and SDK modules.

AirWatch also detailed partner portal, not just a place for partner logos, at the conference, branded as AirWatch Marketplace.
