It looks like the all-in-one (AIO) desktop PC trend is accelerating. A case in point: In just two years, 60% of Lenovo’s desktop sales will involve all-in-one PCs, predicts TradingMarkets.com. VARs and partners might want to take note.Already, 30% of all Lenovo desktops shipped are AIO designs, reports TradingMarkets.com. Longer term, Li Zhigang, executive for Lenovo Group Beijing says the 60% prediction is likely a conservative estimate.
Lenovo’s portfolio of AIO machines seems to be growing, and now includes the C series, A series (iMac look-alike?) and B series, to name a few. At first, AIO PCs were traditionally expensive, but they’ve come down in price considerably, and are actually a size and cost-saving alternative.
While AIOs won’t likely replace traditional high-end work machines, for the general cubicle dweller, the AIO could simplify both ease of use, and IT cost / spending for parts and maintenance. It’ll be interesting to see how quick — if at all — companies shift completely over to the AIO form factor.
