WTG Cuts Alcatel-Lucent Certification Time for Agents
The master agency also has created a lucrative strategy that encourages Alcatel-Lucents direct sales reps to work with indirect channel partners.

CHANNEL PARTERS Master agency World Telecom Group (WTG) (Booth #1411 at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo) has added some new facets to its partnership with equipment giant Alcatel-Lucent.
First, WTG agents now can qualify to sell Alcatel-Lucents products in just 45 minutes, rather than the original one-hour time frame. Second, WTG has formed a strategy that encourages direct Alcatel-Lucent representatives to work with the channel. When those inside teams bring a deal to a WTG agent, rather than selling straight to the client, they earn 120 percent in commissions. That means WTG partners can bundle Alcatel-Lucent gear with telecom network services.
With the exception of large carriers, we are the only business partner of Alcatel-Lucent that focuses on a complete solution of hardware and network services for our agent partners,” said Vince Bradley, CEO of WTG. With this partnership, we will bring a higher percentage of hardware business to Alcatel-Lucent due to the ability to offer bundling relative to other business partners.”
Late last year, WTG inked an authorized reseller agreement with Alcatel-Lucent, giving agents the ability to sell enterprise products including telephones, unified communications (UC) platforms, and data and wireless equipment. Agents can expect to earn 5 percent of the sale price; there also may be some wiggle room on that percentage if an opportunity is especially hot. Here are the Alcatel-Lucent products WTG agents may sell:
OmniAccess WLAN
OmniSwitch data switches
OmniPCX Enterprise voice products
OmniPCX Office voice products
Business Integrated Communication Solutions (BICS) telephones
Unified communications and multimedia conferencing
OmniTouch Contact Center
