3 Things You Need to Know About the Google Cloud Platform Partner Program
Interested in joining the Google Cloud Platform Partner Program? Here are three things MSPs and VARs need to know.
Google (GOOG)’s revenues rose 20 percent year over year to $16.5 billion in the third quarter of last year — and this technology giant continues to explore ways to increase its profits as well.
In 2015, Google has already revamped its Google Cloud Platform Partner Program, which is designed “to enable participants to build their practices or products on the Google Cloud Platform, and to support and recognize participants as they reach higher levels of success.”
The Google Cloud Partner Program provides marketing, sales, support, training and technical resources to help businesses leverage Google Cloud offerings.
And today’s Google Cloud Partner Program could offer new revenue opportunities to both managed service providers (MSPs) and value-added resellers (VARs).
Interested in joining the Google Cloud Partner Program? Here are three things that MSPs and VARs need to know:
1. The program includes three membership options.
There are three Google Cloud Partner Program membership options available to MSPs and VARs:
Google Cloud Registered Company – A Registered Company CANNOT use the Google Cloud logo or branding but CAN access online marketing content via Google Enterprise Connect and a template for published customer reference stories, along with basic sales and technical support content.
Authorized Services Partner – In addition to the benefits provided to a Registered Company, an Authorized Services Partner can access myriad joint marketing and partner training tools and use the Google Cloud logo and branding.
Premier Services Partner – A Premier Services Partner has full access to all benefits that are available to Google Cloud partners.

2. There are revenue requirements to become a partner.
To become a Google Cloud Registered Company, an MSP or VAR must have at least one of its products running on or integrated with one or more Google Cloud products.
Becoming an Authorized or Premier Services Partner, however, is more difficult.
For Authorized Services Partners, there is an annual revenue requirement of $12,000 for partner-resale deals (revenue from partner to Google) and/or partner-led or partner-assisted deals (revenue directly from customer to Google).
For Premier Services Partners, there is an annual revenue requirement of $120,000.
3. Google accepts both services and technology partners.
Google’s services partners provide products and tools that integrate with Google Cloud and extend its reach and functionality, or use one of its cloud services as a foundation for their products.
The company’s technology partners, meanwhile, provide products and tools that integrate with Google Cloud and extend its reach and functionality, or use one of its cloud services as a foundation for their products.
