Are you listening to your customers and partners? Phil Sorgen, corporate vice president of the Microsoft (MSFT) worldwide partner group, said active listening skills are paramount for successful leaders. "What has helped me the most over the years is listening – listening to my colleagues and listening to our partners all over the world," he said. "Listening to our partners is especially important to me, and I couldn't do my job without the insights and feedback they provide." Microsoft ranked fourth on the Talkin' Cloud 100.
The cloud can be complicated, but businesses can depend on CSPs for support. In addition, Cirrity President Dan Timko noted that businesses should embrace their core competencies and "focus on building your set of value-added services" that surround cloud services. Cirrity ranked 90 on the Talkin' Cloud 100.
Transforming your customers into advocates is easier said than done. However, Evolve IP Chief Sales Officer Tim Allen offers the following recommendation: "Deliver a world-class product, using industry-leading technologies and provide support that turns customers into advocates." Evolve IP ranked 28 on the Talkin' Cloud 100.
Rackspace (RAX) Chief Technology Officer John Engates said businesses should understand the value they provide to customers. By doing so, these companies can build on their strengths and continue to provide their customers with dependable support. "We built our company on the strategy of providing a superior services experience and by extension, a superior outcome for our customers," Engates said. "We have found that this strategy works, and as tempting as it may be to try something different, it's probably not wise to move away from your core strengths and cultural foundations as a company." Rackspace ranked 10 on the Talkin' Cloud 100.
Kaseya CEO Yogesh Gupta pointed out that business growth is key, and customers must be happy and growing as a company expands as well. "Nothing is easy, but it's all relative," he said. "For a cloud business, it's easier for customers to switch, and customer satisfaction is crucial in the long run." Kaseya ranked 55 on the Talkin' Cloud 100.
Egnyte CEO Vineet Jain pointed out that companies should focus on taking care of their own operations to succeed in today's global marketplace. "One tip that I am very grateful for is to 'run my own race,'" he said. "In this very crowded market, it would be easy to try and get into a war with competitors around features or pricing. However, by listening to our customers and utilizing behavioral data we have been able to build solutions that solve real-world problems." Egnyte ranked 29 on the Talkin' Cloud 100.
Virtustream CEO Rodney Rogers said businesses must provide value to customers and explore ways to ensure that customers get the support they deserve at all times. "As workload demands continue to grow exponentially, and infrastructure continues to commoditize, cloud services providers must move up the value chain," he said. "Successful CSPs will drive efficient application delivery through intelligent automation while embracing new business models based on consumption." Virtustream ranked 24 on the Talkin' Cloud 100.
