Synopsys is acquiring WhiteHat Security for $330 million in cash.
Synopsys said adding WhiteHat will expand its application security SaaS capabilities. The two companies share a vision for delivering SaaS-based security testing solutions and building security into the software development life cycle.
Jason Schmitt is general manager of Synopsys. He made waves for graciously acknowledging WhiteHat’s contribution to the industry.
“WhiteHat Security helped pioneer SaaS delivery of application security testing, and brings powerful technology and expertise into our application security portfolio,” he said. “WhiteHat Security’s dynamic application security testing (DAST) capabilities complement our strengths in static analysis, interactive analysis and software composition analysis, while their expertise in SaaS will accelerate our security testing SaaS capabilities.”

Microsoft posted it quarterly earnings, reporting a revenue jump of 18%, to $49.4 billion, and profit reached $16.7 billion, up 8%.
Satya Nadella is Microsoft’s chairman and CEO. He made waves this week for explaining how Microsoft beat expectations.

It’s all about self-determination. Masergy is letting resellers deliver managed SD-WAN on their own terms through a new model.
Masergy and Fortinet will deliver their joint SD-WAN solution to partners through Ingram Micro. As a result, VARs and MSPs can deliver an SD-WAN offering that ties together the Fortinet Secure SD-WAN platform, Masergy security management services and Ingram distribution.
Masergy’s Bill Madison, vice president of global channel alliances, made waves this week for explaining that the partnership helps the company reach a partner ecosystem multiple times larger than what it has traditionally accessed.

If there was one story that captured readers’ attention this month it was Kaseya’s acquisition of Datto. Channel Futures published several stories about the deal, including an interview with Fred Voccola, Kaseya’s CEO. Voccola made waves this week for reassuring the channel that some things just won’t change because of the acquisition.
“I would address it this way. Look at Kaseya’s track record of acquisitions. Throughout each integration, we’ve always kept the brand. We’ve done zero layoffs, and we’ve kept the autonomy of the company that we’ve acquired. Obviously now they are part of Kaseya — we integrate the back office system, the HR, the finance, etc. But we’ve kept the autonomy and more importantly, we’ve kept the culture of what makes these companies great.”

Madhuri Chawla is global head of SAP strategic partnership and alliances at Kyndryl. She made waves this week when Kyndryl, the IT infrastructure services provider giant that spun off from IBM, announced it was expanding its partnership with SAP to support customers’ digital transformation needs.
Chawla said: “As our customers embark on new and ongoing cloud transformation strategies, this joint effort allows us to streamline operations. It enhances visibility across their mission-critical workloads at unprecedented speed and scale.”

New Citrix channel chief Mark Palomba made waves for his plans to leave the company.
Palomba, a former SAP executive, joined Citrix two years ago as COO for sales and services. Citrix last fall tapped Palomba to replace former channel chief Bronwyn Hastings, who left months earlier to join Google Cloud. A Citrix spokeswoman, who confirmed Palomba’s planned departure, said his final day has not yet been determined.
There has been a continued surge of longtime Citrix employee and executive departures, something Jeff Schwartz delves into here.
April ushered in the first 120 days of Ruba Borno’s installment as vice president of worldwide channels and alliances at AWS. What has she accomplished in what is admittedly a short period of time for a tenure? Well, she made waves for meeting with 120 partners —conceivably one for each day she’s been on the job.
“We work with our partners to understand what their needs are,” Borno said in our most-read story of the week.
With all those meetings, she should have a clear understanding of what those hopes and desires are.
Read Kelly Teal’s story to get the picture of what Borno’s goals and challenges are for the channel chief role.

Our weekly Channel People Making Waves counts down the top stories of the past seven days. We highlight the individuals behind the stories, this week featuring AWS, Masergy, Microsoft and more.
First Up, the AWS Partner Network is celebrating 10 years. At the same time, the company’s channel chief, Ruba Borno is marking her first few months in the role. What does that mean for Channel Futures readers? Our Kelly Teal explores that and examines Borno’s goals for the position.
On a different note, one company is seeing a surge of employee and executive departures, including its channel chief. Jeff Schwartz reports on this and the company’s $16.5 billion private equity buyout.
Also, we hear from Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola about the company’s recent acquisition of Datto. He spends a lot of time reassuring the channel about the deal, which you can read about in this list.
