After Layoffs, Doyenz CEO Focuses On U.S. Cloud Backup Market
Doyenz — amid layoffs and a U.K. cloud shutdown — is refocusing on its core U.S.-based cloud backup and disaster recovery service, according to CEO Ashutosh Tiwary. The goal is to remain extremely focused in the U.S., while unwinding portions of the business that were not performing to plan, he told MSPmentor. Here’s the update for U.S.- and U.K.-based MSPs and channel partners running the Doyenz rCloud service.
In the U.S., Tiwary says, the company has a solid team to service customers while pursuing more growth opportunities. I’m not sure how many positions Doyenz has cut. Asked if the company needs to raise money to keep funding the U.S. cloud business, Tiwary said new funding is not required but the company wouldn’t rule out such a move if the right opportunity came along.
In the U.K., Doyenz will stop cloud service on Aug. 10; client data will be retained on the U.K. system until Aug. 31 for partners and/or customers to retrieve. Some U.K. partners have complained about the short notice — Doyenz made the announcement earlier this week. Doyenz has offered to host the U.K. data in its U.S. cloud, but in some cases partners have indicated that won’t be an option because of data compliance regulations in Europe.
Databarracks, a managed cloud backup provider in London, has announced that it will give former Doyenz U.K. cloud customers free setup and support during August and September. I am not familiar with Databarrack’s services but the company appears to leverage storage technologies from Asigra, CommVault, EVault, Symantec and Amazon Web Services.
