Amazon Web Services (AWS) has updated AWS CloudFormation to make it easier for developers to manage relational database service (RDS) read replicas.
The new update adds CloudFormation templates to build RDS read replica architectures and simplify the provisioning and managing of application architectures with RDS read replicas.
An AWS spokesperson told Talkin’ Cloud that with this update, the management of RDS read replicas is more user-friendly for customers: “This simplifies the management of architectures containing RDS read replicas as customers now do not have to write procedural code to provision such architectures or do it manually through the management console.”
Those interested in provisioning RDS read replicas can use this CloudFormation sample template.
Other notable AWS updates
Amazon expanded its AWS Console mobile app support for iOS and Android to provide deeper viewing information on load balancers and RDS instances and elastic load balancing on AWS.
AWS users can now migrate Amazon EC2 reserved instances (RIs) between availability zones within the same region, instead of being bound to a fixed availability zone, as well as between network platforms.
AWS CloudFormation is now available for the AWS GovCloud (US) region.
