DELL TECHNOLOGIES WORLD — Dozens of exhibitors are displaying their offers at the Solutions Expo Hall at Dell Technologies World. Here’s some news from the conference you might have missed.
Big Switch Networks, a cloud-first networking company and Dell networking partner, recently announced that it signed an OEM agreement with Dell EMC, and the collaborators are working together to design Dell Ready Stack solutions. Dell Ready Stack solutions are certified systems available from Dell EMC partners. They allow users to build their own converged infrastructure with a choice of storage, server, networking and data protection options, using components from Dell EMC, along with guidance.
As part of the new OEM agreement, Big Switch components will be added to the list of available components in the Dell EMC Ready Stack architecture. These validated solutions include Dell EMC open networking switch hardware and Big Switch’s Big Cloud Fabric software.
According to the vendor, its Big Switch cloud-first networking portfolio includes three solutions that target the Dell EMC open networking portfolio: Big Cloud Fabric (BCF), a VPC-based logical networking fabric; Big Monitoring Fabric (BMF), for network visibility; and Multi-Cloud Director, for federated management of multisite BCF and BMF deployments across public, private or multicloud environments.
Unisys, a provider of security focused solutions, on Wednesday announced the integration of its Unisys Stealth suite with Dell EMC Cyber Recovery software.
Unisys Stealth is cybersecurity software that’s built on encrypted microsegmentation that transforms an existing network, both on-premises and in the cloud, into a Zero Trust Network. Dell EMC’s Cyber Recovery Solution is management and automation software that provides end-to-end protection of critical data, identifies suspicious activity and performs recovery, as required.
“The combination of Dell EMC Cyber Recovery and Unisys Stealth provides greater assurance for organizations looking for extra protection against hackers and malicious insiders who deliberately target data protection and backup infrastructure,” said Jay Snyder, senior vice president, global alliances at Dell EMC.
Product availability is slated for June.
Dell Technologies and Orange, an operator of mobile and internet services, announced the signing of an agreement to explore developing technology for distributed cloud architectures to deliver in real-time Edge use cases and service opportunities that 5G is expected to create.
More specifically, Dell Technologies and Orange will collaborate on the definition and development of:
Edge technology use cases, business models and proof of concepts.
Open source consortia and partnerships for the edge ecosystem.
Definition and validation of infrastructure accelerators, such as FPGAs, GPUs, and SmartNICs, for edge workloads, including Cloud/Virtual RAN (CRAN/vRAN), MEC, and real-time, interactive, latency-sensitive applications.
AI/ML-enabled software to support remote automation of a multi-technology, heterogeneous edge built on virtual machines, containers and bare metal workloads.
Edge infrastructure platforms supporting telco environmental, space, operational and automation requirements.
“We’re working closely with Orange to combine our joint telco best practices with decades of data-center transformation experience to help service providers retool their operations to quickly and profitably roll out new 5G services,” said Tom Burns, senior vice president, Dell EMC networking and solutions.
CenturyLink announced that CenturyLink Private Cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation is now available on Dell EMC Power Edge servers, and supports multiple configuration options.
“As our customers continue on their digital transformation journey, it is common to find workloads that aren’t appropriate for the public cloud, yet still require reliable automation, simple operations and resilient data protection,” said David Shacochis, vice president, hybrid IT product management at CenturyLink. “With this new capability we give customers more ways to tap into the power of the software-defined data center while staying connected to a range of hybrid cloud venues through our adaptive, global fiber network.”
Also this week, Kemp Technologies, which brands itself as powering the always-on application experience, announced that it’s now a validated Dell EMC Select partner to streamline the delivery of Dell EMC ECS (Dell EMC Object Storage System) through its next-generation, load balancing software and hardware.
