Capgemini, Sybase Partner on Mobile Management as a Service
September 28, 2011
Cloud service provider and system integrator Capgemini has partnered with SAP-owned Sybase to host SaaS and PaaS versions of the Sybase Managed Mobility portfolio. Through partnership, Sybase extends its solutions to the cloud and Capgemini adds management for the burgeoning number of enterprise mobile devices to its portfolio.
According to the press release, the specific Sybase solutions Capgemini plans to add to its cloud portfolio are as follows (with one or two links provided by yours truly):
Mobile device management powered by Afaria mobile device management solution, including related maintenance, hosting and implementation support
Mobile enterprise application platform services and associated mobile applications built upon Sybase Unwired Platform.
According to Capgemini, these solutions “can be provided via an on-premise environment as well as a hosted environment, through the public or private cloud.” Additionally, Capgemini is launching professional services around these new applications, with customers having the option to pay for services such as integration with their other SAP deployments, actual installation and automation support.
Going forward, Capgemini said its 14-year-long relationship with SAP may go deeper, with the sales teams of the two companies potentially working together in the future to come up with end-to-end solutions around SAP’s sales and ERP-focused mobile applications.
We’ll continue to watch Capgemini, Sybase and SAP closely going forward, so stay tuned.
