Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) has partnered with Proximetry, a wireless network and performance management software provider, to offer a new cloud-based network management solution for utility companies. Here’s some insight on the relationship.

The deal involves Proximetry’s AirSync platform — a smart grid network management system that can be used to configure, manage and monitor network-connected devices. It also offers network monitoring and feedback reporting, and network topology visualization for managed service providers (MSPs).

CSC is now matching the platform with its own managed IT services capabilities, cloud services and expertise in the utility industry to offer network management to to multi-vendor, multi-radio public and private networks. The new offering is called the CSC AirSync Cloud, and CSC claims it’s secure, reliable and the first-of-it’s-kind.

The CSC AirSync Cloud solution is only available in the U.S. right now, but the company plans to offer the platform internationally later on in 2012.

CSC in 2011 suffered setbacks in its managed services business. The company reorganized its managed services management team in September 2011 in an attempt to address the issues.
