Doyenz: Beyond Backup to Cloud-based Disaster Recovery

Doyenz CEO Ashutosh Tiwary knows the cloud backup and cloud storage markets are extremely crowded. Instead of focusing on commodity storage, Tiwary says Doyenz — and its channel partners — will profit from rapid, virtualized, cloud-based disaster recovery services.
Tiwary shared his perspectives with me during the HTG Peer Groups Spring Conference in Dallas this week. In a TalkinCloud FastChat Video, Tiwary describes how Doyenz virtualizations end-customer data in the cloud, allowing VARs and managed services providers to rapidly restore information even if an on-premise server or system remains offline. During an on-premise outage, customers can be redirected to a virtualized alternative in the cloud. Plus, that virtualized cloud system can be used to restore the on-premise offering, Tiwary asserts.
No doubt, Doyenz is in growth mode. The company is preparing to raise another round of venture capital funding. And Doyenz has inked partnerships with CharTec (hardware as a service) and LabTech Software (remote monitoring and management). CharTec and LabTech are both ConnectWise Capital investments. The CharTec-Doyenz relationship tends to compete against Zenith Infotech, while the LabTech-Doyenz combo likely faces off against Kaseya.
Doyenz faces plenty of additional competition. The company works hard to avoid getting lumped into traditional online backup conversations but ultimately Doyenz does face competition from a range of cloud storage, backup and disaster recovery (BDR) Providers.
Where does Doyenz go from here? Perhaps some of the answers involve VP of Sales and Marketing Eric Webster, himself a veteran of online backup specialist Intronis. Webster has a large Rolodex of MSP-centric software and hardware companies… I wonder which of his sources will trigger the next Doyenz partnership.
