Egenera Management Software Certified for IBM BladeCenter
May 11, 2012
Converged infrastructure and automated software firm Egenera announced that IBM (NYSE: IBM) has certified its main software, PAN Manager, for IBM’s BladeCenter platform. Based on Egenera’s PAN (processing area network) Architecture, its flagship PAN Manager is a converged infrastructure management software product that provides rapid provisioning, high availability, disaster recovery and secure multitenancy, as well as physical and virtual management.
For Egenera, which hailed the news as a “significant announcement,” this is confirmation of its commitment to giving enterprises “hardware openness and choice when deploying their infrastructure management, automation and unified computing solutions.” The addition of PAN Manager to IBM BladeCenter, in Egenera’s view, allows businesses to simplify infrastructure management and enhance service levels through a converged infrastructure.
“As Egenera realigned to focus on software, we have had the business objective of becoming certified for all leading blade servers, so we are delighted to have achieved this landmark. For the customer, it’s about enabling choice,” said Pete Manca, CEO of Egenera, in a prepared statement. “As businesses are dealing with a wider range of physical and virtual technologies, PAN Manager Software for IBM BladeCenter allows the customer flexibility to deploy and manage those technologies and deliver services across any blade infrastructure.”
