Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has unveiled a new solftware solution that introduces a DevOps-like process to standardize machine learning (ML) workflows and accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) deployments.

HPE ML Ops moves AI initiatives from experimentation and pilot projects, to enterprise-grade operations and production by addressing the entire machine learning life cycle – from data preparation and model building, to training, deployment, monitoring and collaboration – for on-premises, public cloud and hybrid cloud environments.

Jason Schroedl, vice president of marketing for BlueData, which was HPE acquired, tells us every industry is looking to adopt AI, ML, deep learning and analytics, but the challenge is moving beyond experimentation.

“Unless you go into production, you’re not delivering business value,” he said. “We’re seeing adoption of this and opportunity in many different industries.”

HPE ML Ops extends the capabilities of the BlueData Epic software platform, which enables data-science teams to spin up containerized environments for distributed AI/ML and analytics. HPE acquired BlueData to bolster its AI, analytics and container offerings, complementing HPE’s hybrid IT solutions and Pointnext services for enterprise AI deployments.

“We think for the channel, this is a great opportunity for them to help their customers’ AI journey,” Schroedl said. “Many of them are in the early phases, maybe experimenting and evaluating different tools. Customers need to learn how to bring a more standardized approach. and channel partners can help them … as they move from experimentation to production. Across the board, companies are looking at and investing in AI and innovation. Channel partners can be a key for these companies in helping them as they start their journey and look to accelerate their journey, and begin to put these game changing [initiatives] into operation.”

HPE ML Ops works with a wide range of open source ML and deep learning frameworks including Keras, MXNet, PyTorch, and TensorFlow, as well as commercial ML applications from software partners such as Dataiku and H2O.ai.

“As a longtime partner with HPE Pointnext, we are very excited that BlueData is now part of HPE,” said Florian Douetteau, Dataiku‘s CEO. “At Dataiku, we strive to bring large-scale adoption of machine learning to all enterprises. The combination of Dataiku with HPE’s BlueData software will help our customers to successfully scale and operationalize their machine learning projects, delivering real impact for their business.”
