IDrive is looking to bring enterprise-level cloud backup to Linux servers through a new Web-based service designed to target data centers and hosting companies managing multiple Linux systems.

The Calabasas, California-based cloud storage provider said the new service, called IDrive DataCenter, allows off-site management by enabling customers to backup, restore and administer or schedule tasks remotely from an IT administrator’s mobile device.

Features include interactive backup capabilities, automated scheduled backups, user-based bandwidth regulation and 256-bit AES encryption (with optional private key).

IDrive CEO Raghu Kulkarni, who founded the company in 1995, said in a statement that this new service is a “big step” for the company.

“Traditionally our focus has been consumers and SMBs, but we received many requests from potential customers needing better, easier ways to backup their Linux servers,” he said.

IDrive DataCenter, now available with various pricing plan options for businesses, works with Ubuntu, Debian, RedHat and other Linux distributors.

IDrive in May introduced its Bulk Reseller Program, which is the second program after its Partner Referral Program. The referral program gives partners a 25 percent commission on all paid signups that result from their referrals.
