Ingram Micro and Veritas are taking their long-term relationship to a new level with a new product — Veritas SaaS Backup.

This is the first as-a-service distribution model for Veritas and is available to U.S. partners. Global rollouts will follow. The Veritas backup as a service (BUaaS) is offered through the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace in the U.S. You can get it through other Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplaces, globally, later.

“This represents a new opportunity for partners,” Tim FitzGerald, vice president, cloud channel at Ingram Micro, told Channel Futures. “It capitalizes on a sizable market opportunity in backup.”

This latest offer on the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace is a comprehensive data protection service. It includes backup and recovery for popular SaaS applications. Veritas SaaS Backup offers comprehensive Office 365 data protection for Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, and Groups & Teams. It also offers protection for Microsoft Dynamics, G Suite and Salesforce.

“Ingram Micro helps us extend our capability from backup and recovery to data management to a large set of resellers in the U.S. and globally,” Simon Jelley, vice president of product management at Veritas, told Channel Futures. “It helps us drive new solutions around protection of, in particular, SaaS workloads, such as customers adopting things such as Office 365. And, moving from standard on-prem collaboration tools, such as Exchange for email to Office 365. Businesses are also using tools like Teams for collaboration and not just for conferencing, but also file sharing. You need to protect the data.”

More to Come

While Veritas SaaS Backup is the first of the vendor’s solutions to launch on the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace, expect to see more. Veritas Backup Exec will debut globally in the future, according to Ingram Micro.

As more companies opt to deploy more workloads as a servic, the need increases for SaaS Backup solutions, such as that from Veritas.

“This particular solution capitalizes on the opportunity to ensure that those workloads are protected, governed and secure,” said FitzGerald. “Partners are going to be best able to serve their customer needs by being deeply competent in all of the solution elements they’re providing.”

The pandemic accelerates this opportunity for partners.
