Going forward, Ingram Micro is asking partners not to think of the company as a distributor. Rather, think of the company as “the great enabler” for the partner opportunities. Ingram Micro North America President Keith Bradley delivered that message during the Ingram Micro Cloud Summit today in Scottsdale, Ariz.Bradley said Ingram Micro is focused on three globally-consistent strategies:
1. Excel in core business and create a foundation for operational excellence to profitably gain, share and scale.
2. Strengthen established presences in high-growth areas — like data center and networking.
3. Develop and acquire expertise in new areas to augment core capabilities and leadership. That’s where cloud and mobility fit into the conversation.
On the cloud front, 80 percent of Ingram’s partners are selling cloud solutions. And over time, 20 percent of cloud sales will go through the channel, Bradley asserted, quoting Gartner research. “That’s a $16 billion market opportunity for [our ecosystem,” he said.
Ingram has 80 people dedicated to the cloud, with headcount expected to exceed 100 people by the end of this year.
To wrap up, Bradley went off script and encouraged attendees to hire veterans returning home from Iraq and other locations. Bradley said the unemployment rate among returning veterans is twice the unemployment rate of high school dropouts. “Let’s put a dent in that statistic, together,” he concluded.
