Intermedia Cloud Outage: Hosted Exchange Service Restored
Intermedia suffered a cloud services outage today. The hosted Exchange provider has apologized to partners and customers for the issue. A spokesperson for the company, which ranks among the world's Top 100 Cloud Services Providers, says all service has been restored and no data was lost.

Intermedia suffered a cloud services outage today, leaving hosted Exchange channel partners and their customers in the dark for several hours. Intermedia has apologized to partners and customers for the issue. A spokesperson for the company, which ranks among the world’s Top 100 Cloud Services Providers, says all service has been restored and no data was lost.
Asked to comment about the outage by Talkin’ Cloud, Intermedia offered the following statement:
“We experienced network issues early this morning that impacted many customers in more than one data center, as well as our own support desk. This is why customers and partners were unable to reach us by phone.
We apologize to our customers and partners for any disruptions, as we recognize the paramount importance of the Office in the Cloud services that we provide. Our team has successfully restored all email services, and continues to quickly address remaining issues. No data was lost and all customer data remains secure.
We reached out to impacted customers via alternate email addresses, text messages and our HostPilot control panel. We did this as soon as we recognized the issue and continue to do as we have worked to bring more of our services back online. Most customers were reached this way. However, some were not. We also broadened our communication via Twitter, Facebook, and our website. We regret not being able to be as responsive as usual given the number of calls. We continue to provide frequent updates via Twitter (@Intermedia_net) and contact all customers who remain impacted.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our customers. We re-commit ourselves to delivering on our “worry-free experience” and will continue to share changes that we will make on an on-going basis.”
Shortly after Talkin’ Cloud received that statement, an Intermedia spokesperson followed up again at 3:52 p.m. ET to say all services had now been restored.
Generally speaking Intermedia has a close, loyal following among VARs and MSPs that want to offer hosted Exchange and cloud services to end-customers. Just last week, Intermedia completed an acquisition that could help the company to push deeper into hosted PBX and cloud-based VoIP services.
News about today’s Intermedia outage spread rapidly across Twitter, but Talkin’ Cloud tends to be conservative when covering cloud outages these days since they seem to be on decline.
