Lumen Teams with Google Cloud to Optimize Network Insight
Through the partnership, Lumen uses Google Cloud infrastructure to improve insights into its network and preemptively counter future issues.
Lumen Technologies is teaming up with Google Cloud to power AIOps and data insights across its vast network.
Lumen announced on Tuesday it is using Google Cloud infrastructure to build its AI-powered Lumen Digital Twin, which provides real-time insights across its network. These insights will help the company proactively detect and resolve future network issues, the company claims.
Lumen's Dave Ward
"We're transforming our operations top to bottom to deliver outstanding customer service and operate a more efficient business," said Dave Ward, Lumen chief technology and product officer. "Google Cloud's expertise and AI technologies are key enablers for our company, allowing us to use our Lumen Digital Twin network technology to test new capabilities and improvements before we deploy them."
Lumen also said it will use Google Cloud's Vertex AI and Gemini models to develop new applications that will help customers evade unnecessary technician dispatches and provide better support.
Google Cloud's Bikash Koley
"We are at a pivotal moment as gen AI drives true business transformations across industries," said Bikash Koley, VP, global networking and infrastructure at Google Cloud. "Lumen is a trusted network for AI, and we are excited to partner with them to provide real-time insights and operational improvements and drive meaningful business outcomes for organizations worldwide."
Lumen Partnership in Context
Google isn't Lumen's only cloud partnership. The communications giant announced on Oct. 30 that it was working with AWS to use generative AI to enhance its network operations and delivery. It also partnered with Meta to expand long-term network capacity and help the social media giant use AI more effectively.
Lumen was reportedly hacked by a Chinese hacker group in early October in what some believe to be an attempt to compromise local wiretap systems. The company declined to comment on the hack.
