NovaStor, a U.S.-based backup software and data protection solution provider, has released NovaBACKUP xSP 12.1, a cloud backup platform for managed service providers. NovaBACKUP xSP 12.1 features data transfers up to 30 times faster than any previous version of NovaBACKUP xSP, better customer management, Microsoft Exchange 2010 support, and global data availability for MSP, the company asserts.

The cloud computing platform also has two new major applications:

1. Cloud Restore: This gives an MSP’s clients unlimited access to data they have backed up to the cloud. MSPs can operate from a website in which customers can log in from any PC web-browser and restore any file to any PC. Cloud Restore doesn’t require the original interface or computer that the client installed the software on.

2. Seamless Restore: This application makes data available regardless of bandwidth. Seamless Restore doesn’t use online connections to restore huge amounts of data. MSPs can instead use Seamless Restore to create a restore device for any customer.

We’ll be curious to see how NovaStor competes and differentiates within the crowded cloud backup market.
