OS33 Launches Update to MSP-Focused Cloud Platform

OS33, the cloud-based automated service delivery platform for MSPs, has unveiled an update that, in part, gives service providers and their customers access to corporate file systems from the browser and an optimized mobile portal. But the real story could be the maturation of the rare product that aims to bridge the gap between managed services and cloud services.

The OS33 pitch is simple. The OS33 WebTop, as you might guess from the name, is a web-based interface that unifies access to cloud applications for end-users in a familiar desktop look. That goes for SaaS that’s hosted in the public cloud or in the private cloud. The WebTop is a single point of administration and service provisioning for the MSP, and it makes the cloud accessible to customers.

With this update, according to OS33’s press release, WebTop users get the ability to add OpenSocial gadgets like those on iGoogle to their start pages. But more than that, the brand new OS33 Cloud File Manager lets users browse corporate file systems in the broswer without the need for VDI, Citrix, or other intermediary remote desktop solutions. And integrated Microsoft Office Web Apps means opening, editing, and saving documents is fully supported.

OS33 says that the updates are designed to integrate fully with their MSP Quick Start program, which is aimed at helping their service provider partners make the cloud leap with a branded environment – in as little as 24 hours.

It’s an interesting offering, and the OS33 WebTop sounds similar in execution to the Open-Xchange Web Desktop, which TalkinCloud has been watching closely. But the key takeaway is that OS33 seems to design with the MSP in mind.
