Paragon Software has inked a deal with distributor Arbitech to proliferate Paragon’s data recovery and migration solutions for SMBs. The complete line of Paragon products will be open to Arbitech’s VARs and system integrators. Here’s a quick rundown on the new relationship …
Since Arbitech only has a “handful” of software providers under its distribution wing, Paragon Software is hoping the new distribution deal to help it expand its sales and marketing footprint through Arbitech’s partners. Arbitech gets its back rubbed, too, since this new deal puts helps the company fulfill its goal of being the “leading” alternative value-added distributor in the United States.
Currently, Paragon is focused on the SMB space, but it is also hoping partners reach out into the enterprise with Paragon’s storage and backup solution suites. “Instant system recovery” in both virtual or physical environments, based on the company’s image-based drive backup technology, is one of Paragon’s key features. Such technology could prove attractive to companies where downtime isn’t an option, and reinstalling an OS and then restoring the data is unacceptable.
Last time we looked at Paragon, in March 2010, the company was offering Windows migration solutions for the corporate environment. As of late, it also has been focusing on Apple-specific file system interoperability solutions that work with both Mac and PC.
As corporate environments become increasingly more virtualized and heterogeneous, VARs could truly capitalize on selling software that is platform — and file system — agnostic.
