Platform9 Launches Managed OpenStack Private Cloud Solution
Platform9 is hoping to make it easier for organizations to adopt private cloud with the introduction of Platform9 Managed OpenStack, a product aimed at making it easy for organizations to launch a private cloud based on the popular open source cloud solution.

Platform9 is hoping to make it easier for organizations to adopt private cloud with the introduction of Platform9 Managed OpenStack. The company is describing the new solution as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that “transforms an organization’s existing servers into an AWS-like agile, self-service private cloud within minutes.”
And it makes sense, as OpenStack has really found its niche (a rather large and growing one) in the private cloud realm. The launch of the Platform9 OpenStack solution comes after six months of beta testing the service with various enterprise and service provider customers. During the beta, organizations deployed thousands of virtual machines on the SaaS-y solution every day.
“Today, Platform9 is disrupting the complexity barrier to private clouds with Platform9 Managed OpenStack — its SaaS simplicity, production readiness, and seamless integration with existing environments enable every organization to manage their in-house infrastructure with greater agility and efficiency,” said Sirish Raghuram, co-founder and CEO of Platform9, in a prepared statement. “It is especially satisfying that we’re able to experience the benefits of an OpenStack-based private cloud by using our product just as our customers do. Over the past six months, we have moved all of our dev/test workloads from the public cloud to a Platform9 managed private cloud, thus realizing significant cost savings and development agility.”

As for what makes this flavor of OpenStack different from others, Platform 9 noted:

A service SLA is built-in, as are monitoring functions.
Updates were designed to be seamless.
